A Sage of Start-Ups

First Round's Howard Morgan was the featured guest on This Week in Start-Ups on March 5.

Howard shares his keen insights into the world of Venture Capital. He also offers three pieces of advice to founding entrepreneurs, based on his experience incubating and investing in hundreds of start-ups over three decades:

1. Hire great people. People are everything.

2. Don't raise too much money early. Prove the concept first, ideally on $500,000 or less. Raise more money later when it's much cheaper.

3. Be prepared to work your "rear off". Start-up success is about passion, persistence, and resiliency.

There's wisdom in this long and lively interview by Jason Calacanis, which is here: TWIST. (Howard's interview runs from 1:07:00 to 1:37:00.)
